Girls’ Academy coach and Birthday Girl Tori von Mende and friends cheer on the Owls at Werner Park!
Wolf Pack spotted at Werner Park!
Almost 40 Metro Wolves coaches, players and families watched the 2021 home opener for Union Omaha as the Owls shut out South Georgia Tormenta FC 2-0. In addition to seeing some great soccer, getting autographed player cards, and finally seeing a bit warmer weather, we also got to celebrate coach Tori’s birthday a day early (and coach Steven’s birthday in absentia).
The video version of Coach Tori and the young ladies cheering is even better than the picture above, check us out on Facebook or Twitter for the full experience!
If you thought the youth soccer schedules were a bit daft, the Owl’s next home game isn’t until June 12th. We’ll try to organize another Wolf Pack outing for that game also!
Spring Soccer Success!
Wolves teams have opened the Spring 2021 season with good results. Sarpy County League results for Wolves U7, U8, U8 and U10 teams continue to be impressive, even with last Saturday’s Wolves vs. Wolves slate of games in some age groups!
The Under 12 Boys “Chaos” team placed a strong second in their bracket in the Kicks for a Cure tournament, congratulations.
Further Sarpy County Games on May 1st and May 15th do not have final schedules yet. Those will be released 5-6 days ahead of time. You should expect two games each Saturday similar to previous weekend formats.
La Vista Academy and League Going Strong
The La Vista Recreation Department’s youth soccer Academy and League programs reached their half way point of the season last week. It has been a mostly chilly experience for everyone but no dates have been rained out yet, knock on wood! 90 players ages 4 to 7 practice and scrimmage at the LV Sports Complex under the guidance of Wolves staff and dedicated parents. Thank you all!

- On Saturdays the 4 and 5 year olds meet at 9:00 a.m., 6 and 7 year olds meet at 10:00 a.m.

Summer and Fall Registration Open
Wolves Registration for birth years 2012 and younger is now open for the coming 2021-22 season. Pre-registration for tryouts for older boys and girls will be open soon. For Wolves Academy teams (10U and younger) there are no tryouts or cuts, though we may place players by ability. Friend and carpool requests are also considered. See the information under Club Registration for exactly what is included in each program – you will find we offer the most bang for the buck or howl for the money around. All current players and any player not now registered with another club are welcome to sign up now!
Returning families please note: Nebraska State Soccer has switched online vendors again, so you may need to create a new account to register your player(s). Some information may be synchronized from the previous system if you use the same e-mail address but our testing so far indicates it may not be 100%.
Wolves Spring Cup Tournament
Wolves Spring Cup tournament will be held June 4-6 at the La Vista Sports Complex. Over 25 teams have already signed up, towards our goal of 60-70 teams. Participation for Wolves teams is free, so save the date!
La Vista League teams – note that if you move up to a “Wolves” team for the summer and fall at the conclusion of the League program, your team can participate in the tournament as well.
Thank you to Grandel’s Construction and Roofing, and to Ken Summerfield with American Family Insurance for their sponsorships of this year’s tournament. And as always, a big thank you to Sarpy County Tourism for continuing to be a presenting sponsor of all Wolves Tournaments.
More sponsorships are available – if you know any local business who might help us out please help us keep our costs down and refer them to us. Thank you!
S.O.S. – Soccer Over the Summer
Spread the word! Public Registration is now open for Wolves Soccer Over the Summer! This program will meet at the LVSC on Tuesday evenings for most of June, July, and August. These training sessions are included in your 2021-22 registration fees with Wolves (and no additional registration is necessary), but this is also be open to the public for $50 per term so invite a friend! You may also sign up for S.O.S. as a way to experience the Wolves Way with our coaches, before committing to the full season if you wish.

S.O.S. will meet for 3 separate 4 or 5 week terms (June, July, and August) to help accommodate those people who have other plans during the summer. #BeAWolf
